World of Frozen opened last March, and we FINALLY had the chance to let it go and go into the unknown (see what I did there :). World of Frozen is the latest addition to Disneyland Paris and specifically to its second theme park, Disney Adventure World, the park that was previously called Walt Disney Studios Park. The land sits at the back of the park and features 1 attraction, 1 restaurant, 2 shops, and toilets. We also enjoyed what Disneyland Paris does best: entertainment. And there is a lot of it! In this blog, we go through all we have seen, experienced, loved, criticized, etc. You get the point. At the end of this blog, we share our best tips to make the most of your visit to the Frozen Kingdom.

The Land

World of Frozen was first announced in 2018 as part of the largest expansion in history at Disneyland Paris. Originally planned to be part of a three-land expansion combining Star Wars, Marvel and Frozen, the park has reworked that idea. The resort opened Marvel Avengers Campus in 2022, where they are recruiting their newest heroes. This March, the second addition was finally opened with World of Frozen, and currently, Disneyland Paris and its imagineers are hard at work bringing a Lion King land to life. More on that later! The land is part of a brand new piece of park and part of the biggest expansion ever. The kingdom sits right at the back of Adventure Way, a romantic and beautiful “main street” section of Disney Adventure World. Right when you come out of World Premiere, you can notice the clock tower, which serves as the weenie of this land and attracts most visitors to walk straight to the new land. Right when you come out of World Premiere, Adventure Way begins, and you can stroll straight on, around Adventure Bay (the lake) to World of Frozen. The land is almost identical as how you see it in the films. The little town of Arendelle, the north mountain and even the castle is built with a level of detail we haven't seen before at Disneyland Paris.

THE Attraction - Frozen Ever After

Frozen is popular in Europe. Extremely popular. This land was announced in 2018, and since then, the hype and anticipation for it have been tremendously high. The Walt Disney Company has been investing heavily in new attractions across its theme parks, but that doesn’t always mean rides are being built brand new. Frozen Ever After is a re-skin of a version that opened in 2016 at Epcot in Walt Disney World. The version we now have at Disneyland Paris was also opened in 2023 at Hong Kong Disneyland in pretty much the same form, with a few iterations.
Although the ride isn’t new and we've experienced it multiple times at other parks, we absolutely love it. It is highly detailed, full of amazing tech, audio-animatronics, projections, effects, and stunning visuals. The ride is themed after the first movie, so don’t expect to be singing Show Yourself with Elsa. The ride is about 4,5 minutes long and features a quite intense drop that is similar to the drop at Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland Park. The story is very simple: you are visiting Elsa’s Ice palace. That’s it basically. There isn’t a real storyline on why you’re there or what you’re gonna see. It basically is a storybook ride where the story of the film is being told through an attraction. Perfect for Disney Adventure World because it really needed that sort of ride. The attraction is perfect for the whole family to enjoy. We have seen people from all different ages, sizes, and shapes go on the ride and have an amazing time. No need to worry about the drop! Trust us :)

The queue line for the attraction is beautiful as well. With an advertised wait time of 60 minutes, we only waited 45 minutes and weren’t bored since there is so much to see and discover in this amazing queue. It is highly detailed, filled with little touches of the movies and Arendelle. The music is stunning, and we didn’t feel like the queue took a long time, which honestly is quite impressive. The attraction offers a stand-queue, Disney Premier Access and a single rider line. For guests with a disability, there are several options for you to enjoy this attraction with a reduced wait as well. Ask a Cast Member for more information regarding that information.

Entertainment

The highlight of the land is most certainly the entertainment. And there is a lot of it! You can definitely spend 2 hours in the land without getting bored, which is really good since the land only offers 1 major attraction. The entertainment makes up for it! We divide the entertainment offerings into four categories:

  • Meet & Greets

We finally have the option to meet the Frozen sisters, Anna & Elsa, permanently at Disneyland Paris without losing the will to live. Just to the right of Arendelle Boutique lies the Rencontre Royal (Royal Encounter). In a beautiful themed waiting area, you get to meet the two at the same time in a magical photo opportunity that includes a photopass photographer. The main thing we loved was the use of the virtual queue system for this meet & greet. Similar to other popular characters like Mickey Mouse and the Disney Princesses at Princess Pavilion, you have to reserve your spot for the meet & greet in the official Disneyland Paris App. We love this way of meeting characters; read more on the virtual queue system in our Disneyland Paris Guide. Oaken is wandering around the new land as well, where you can stumble upon him randomly. The famous “hoo hoo” character is more of an interaction than a meet & greet as he really does what he wants to do. So don’t be grumpy when he doesn’t take a picture with you. You can obviously always ask nicely :)

  • Roaming characters

World of Frozen is set in the town of Arendelle, and maybe to your surprise, Anna and Elsa are not the only ones living there. You can spot villagers and civilians who live in Arendelle randomly throughout the day. The interaction and attention to detail is amazing, as you can have entire conversations with them about the village, the stories, and the characters of Frozen. If you have the time, definitely interact with them!

The now-famous character (and insanely cute) Rúna is also available to meet in the land. We can agree this is the equivalent of Grogu from Star Wars, as the character is insanely adorable. Find this wholesome character somewhere in World of Frozen!

  • Olaf

You have certainly seen it on TikTok where it went viral, but Olaf can be seen in Arendelle as well! Now, we have not personally seen him as he might have been on holiday whilst we were there, but he is definitely there to meet you. The first animatronic (sort of) meet & greet ever, created by Walt Disney Imagineering, creates new ways of bringing smaller characters to life, in this case Olaf! He talks, he walks, and interacts live with you! We so want to experience it the next time we’re there! We have seen multiple video's where you can see him just on the left of the entrance to Frozen Ever After. There is a small sectioned-off part just for him.

  • A Celebration of Arendelle

A Celebration of Arendelle is a small outdoor show just next to the land in front of Arendelle Castle. This 15-minute performance features Anna and Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and many dancers and singers from Arendelle with beautiful music and choreography. The show celebrates the sunflower festival, and with Olaf and Kristoff, you create a magical moment. The show has some special effects like fireworks and fountains and is performed multiple times a day (weather permitting). We found the show to be fun and entertaining so it is definitely worth seeing. The only problem we encountered was the visibility. The show is performed on rafts and is performed at a much lower level than the spectators' view. The show was put together last minute to complete the land, so visibility and accessibility weren't taken into account it seems. If you want a decent view, make sure to pick a spot about 40-30 minutes before the show.

Restaurant

The Kingdom of Arendelle features 1 restaurant, The Nordic Crown Tavern, which serves as a quick-service restaurant. Guests can order at the numerous kiosks with self-checkout. No need to wait at the counter (finally!). The items that were offered are Scandinavian-style/home-cooking-like menus. It reminded us a lot of IKEA food, to be honest. The menus mainly consist of mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a protein. We tried the vegan option with meatballs. Not great, but not bad at all. Just standard theme park food. The food isn’t really why you should take a look at this restaurant. The decor is absolutely gorgeous. Themed to the brim with amazing details, artwork, music, and seating. You can tell where the budget has gone into this place. It is also a nice break from the somewhat bizarre crowds we have experienced in the new land. The Nordic Crown Tavern also offers “ breakfast” that really just is coffee and a muffin. But also ice cream and desserts. We have tried the tutti-frutti ice cream. Insanely delicious and quite a lot for the €6 we paid. If we could dream big, this land would have been perfect for a table-service dinner featuring the characters from Frozen. Somewhat like the dining experiences offered on Disney Cruise Line, where a show can be held with music, theatre, and entertainment. It misses that, and the entertainment aspect is firmly present with the current offerings; the dining experience could have been absolutely amazing and memorable if characters or a show was involved.

Shops

World of Frozen features 2 shops. Just after you get off the attraction, the exit is through the gift shop called Arendelle Boutique. The shop sits just to the right of the entrance of Frozen Ever After and left of the meet & greet with Anna and Elsa. Arendelle Boutique offers everything you would expect from a newly opened merchandise store. From plushes to clothing, stationery, pins, lanyards, cards, hairbraids, and so much more. The shop is relatively small and is accessible from the exit of the attraction or from the main square. If it gets too busy in the shop, Cast Members will close it off for a limited period. We have noticed the prices of Frozen merchandise are slightly higher than other merchandise around the park (why would that be), and there are no discounts on anything.

What really stood out for us was the range of new items and merchandise we had never seen before in a theme park. Lots of items that are designed with the intention of using it, not only in the park but in “daily life” as well. The merchandise is of good quality, very durable, and everything looked amazing. Make sure to pop in and have a splurge!

The second shop is just in front of Arendelle Boutique, next to the lake. The shop is called Fjord View and offers some different merchandise from the main shop. Mainly designed to sell the Disneyland Paris exclusive item, the troll named Rúna, it also offers some different items like shoulder plushes, hair braids, and little collectible figurines.

Toilets

World of Frozen is also home to toilets! Modern, clean, and plenty of capacity for you to make use of. We have also spotted a mobility-friendly toilet as well as a baby changing room. Perfect for every need!

Overall opinion

World of Frozen is everything we have asked for. The land is incredibly detailed and offers a full immersive experience. The attraction is wonderful and can be enjoyed by the whole family. It also offers a nice new attraction type that the park really needed. A great boat ride that uplifts the other attractions. Although we are very positive, there are a few negative points. With such a heavy investment, we wish there was more. More attractions, more food & beverage options, and a stage show in some form wouldn't misstand. The land itself is quite small. Of course, we understand the demand is insanely high right now and will doze off in a few years; the land could have been bigger.

Because the land is part of an entire new piece of park, the scenery around the land is... well, it could use a little help. Just to the left of World of Frozen, a Lion King land is being built that will eventually solve that problem. Right now it is a big piece of nothing left and right. That isn't really a problem, but visually it doesn't really work. Overall, we are so proud to have this in Disneyland Paris, as we finally have a new attraction in this park that really sets the new standard.

Tips & Tricks for this land

  • DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT, go to the land first thing in the morning. We have seen massive crowds head to World of Frozen first thing in the morning and massive queues formed for everything. Of course, with Extra Magic Time, the average guest thinks they can head straight on the attraction with a limited wait. It seems every guest has the same idea. Wait until the afternoon to visit the land and enjoy other lands and attractions in the morning, like Worlds of Pixar and Avengers Campus.

  • Order food at a kiosk at Nordic Crown Tavern. We have found the kiosk to be very quick and straightforward to use. You can take your time to make a choice and wait for your food while finding a table. The kiosk accepts all major cards and can scan annual passes for discounts. Please note these machines do not accept cash, but you can order and pay at a Cast Member in that case :)

  • Book your meet & greet with Anna and Elsa first thing in the morning. The virtual queue system opens at 09:30 and 14:00 every day to book a spot. Make sure to book a spot at 09:30 sharp as there is limited capacity and the meet & greet moves quite slowly. Don't let down Frozen super fans and make sure to book that meet & greet!
